What if funding isn’t the thing holding you back?
What if funding isn’t the thing holding you back?
It’s a conversation we have a lot.
Someone discovers Story Rangers and something clicks. They can picture it. Running their own sessions, bringing stories to life, creating something joyful in their community. Work that feels meaningful, flexible, and genuinely fun.
And then, almost always, the same thought follows.
“I love it… but I just don’t have the funds to get started.”
It’s such a common feeling, and a completely understandable one. Starting something new can feel like a big financial leap, especially if you’re used to the security of a regular salary.
But here’s the part that often gets missed.
Not everyone who starts a Story Rangers franchise already has the full investment sitting in their bank account. In fact, many of our franchisees haven’t.
Instead, they’ve applied for a government-backed Start Up Loan to fund their initial investment.
For a lot of people, this is the piece of the puzzle they didn’t know existed.
These loans are designed specifically to help people start their own business, and they can cover the upfront costs that might otherwise feel out of reach. We’ve supported franchisees through the process before, so you’re not figuring it out alone.
What this means in real terms is that, rather than needing a large lump sum, you could be looking at spreading the cost into manageable monthly repayments. Typically, around £160 a month.
And that can shift things quite significantly.
What once felt like “not possible right now” starts to feel more like “actually… maybe this could work.”
Of course, funding is only one part of the decision. There’s also timing.
If you’ve been thinking about making a change, this time of year often brings things into focus. Especially if you’re in teaching, with resignation deadlines approaching and September quietly getting closer in the background.
A September start can be a lovely time to launch something new. Schools are settling into a new year, families are looking for activities, and there’s a natural sense of fresh beginnings in the air.
The good news is that there’s still time to get everything in place for that. From onboarding to training, it’s all very doable if you’re starting to explore things now.
And even if you’re not sure yet, even if you’re just curious, that’s more than enough.
Sometimes the most helpful next step isn’t making a decision. It’s simply getting a clearer picture of what’s actually possible.
Because if funding has been the main thing holding you back, it might not be the barrier you thought it was.
